EIE019 - The Wandering Child, 19th November 2005

A hectic couple of weeks for the Eerie Investigations team started with the investigation of a commercial property who's residents had asked us to visit and investigate.

For commercial reasons they asked us not to name the property nor its location, and as always we respect people's wishes and will maintain their privacy. However they are happy for us to reveal that the building is over 250 years old and has had a number of previous uses through its existence.

The occupants had been experiencing a number of phenomena spanning months, this included audible phenomena - in particular the sound of footsteps overhead and those of a child making play-type sounds - and stock objects being moved. What was particularly interesting with this property was that the adjoining building, the two buildings once having been a single property, was also reported by its owners to show similar occurences.

The Eerie Investigations team arrived and set up our monitoring equipment, including some of our latest sensor kit. Some of our cameras did pick up "orbs" and other strange light anomolies, however nothing which we felt to be highly significant in terms of evidential proof.

However, the most interesting aspect of this investigation was the extreme drops in temperature which were experienced by all of those present, with thermometers, thermal probes, and beam thermometers all showing temperature drops and peaks which changed by as much as 8 degrees Centigrade in as many seconds. These temperature drops were also verified by the data loggers.

Two of our medium team were present, and one - Anne - in particular gained some good evidential proof of spirit contact, and picked up numerous obscure facts about the building's previous history and residents. Some of these have been verified through historical research, some are pending our gaining access to the town archive vaults which contain records from the 17th/18th centuries.

Despite not having been informed of the audible phenomena which the residents were experiencing, Anne picked up on the presence of a female child spirit who had attached herself, in a beneficial way, to one of the occupants. She also picked up on facts which were linked to (and known by) this occupant but which were unknown to even the occupants' friends and family. These are of a highly personal nature and so we agreed not to document them online.

Overall this was an interesting venue to investigate, and a repeat visit is due in late December. We intend at the same time to run a parallel investigation in the adjoining property.
